A brilliant first term!

Year 6 have had a fantastic first term. Everyone has shown a good attitude to their learning and really enjoyed our Apollo 2011 topic.

Well done to Sam and Ryan for their success at the Ashton Park Cross Country event on Wednesday. They will go on to represent Bristol in November.

The photos this week show a range of activities from this term.

Looking forward to next term already!

A week of special guests

Year 6 have had another busy and unusual week!

Celso Paco - On Monday Celso came into school to tell our stories through music. It was brilliant to have him back in school again and we enjoyed hearing the stories he told and listening to the music.

Radio Bristol - On Thursday Ben Prater from Radio Bristol visited Year 6. He talked to us about being a journalist and answered our questions. This was later broadcast on the radio. If you missed it you can find it on BBC i-player.

Astronaut Day - Also on Thursday we had our Astronaut Day. Many of us came in space themed fancy dress. Our parents came in to see what we had been doing in the afternoon and everyone had a great time.
Thank you very much to the parents who joined us on Thursday, hope you enjoyed it.

See you next week

Day and Night

Literacy - we have been continuing to look at journalistic writing this week. We have written a newspaper report using headlines to think of a story. Max was star of the week for his. Next Week a journalist for Radio Bristol will be coming to work with us.

Numeracy - this week we have been doing multiplication and division. We completed an investigation into what happens when you multiply odd x odd, even x even and even x odd. We have also looked at prime numbers and factors.

Topic - We have been learning about how Day and Night happens and how seasons happen. We used a ball and a torch to explain this. If you are able to come to our Astronaut Day we will teach you.

Hope to see lots of you at Astronaut Day.
