Parson Street v Luckwell

Luckwell vs Parson Street
Monday 11th February

Luckwell began their league campaign against high flying Parson Street on a lovely sunny evening. Right from the start it was obviously going to be tough game and both teams battled to gain the upper hand. Neither team had any clear cut chances and both defences looked very strong.

Parson Street began to have more possession but were prevented from having any shots on goal. Luckwell seemed to be coming back into the game and it was against the run of play when Parson Street took the lead with a well taken finish. Luckwell responded well and spent the rest of the half pushing forward and creating chances. However, a combination of good defending and bad luck meant that the half time whistle game with Luckwell still being a goal behind.

A couple of changes at half time and we carried on playing on the front foot. We had countless corners and shots on goal but it looked like we were never going to score. It was Parson Street who had the luck and they doubled their lead with their only chance of the half.

Luckwell never gave up and kept on playing some brilliant football. We won yet another corner on the left wing and George put in a fantastic ball. Jack jumped highest and headed the ball past the Parson Street keeper. From then on it was constant pressure from Luckwell. As the game was drawing to a close good work down the left saw the ball fall to George who turned and shot low to equalise.

A minute or so later the final whistle went and the final score was Parson Street 2 Luckwell 2.

Player of the match was Leighton for a great second half

Luckwell v St Teresas

Sorry but Mr Woodcock has 'borrowed' the Y6 blog as we don't have a specific sports blog yet!!!

Luckwell v St Teresa’s
Coronation cup match 7th February

Luckwell began their football season with an away cup match on the other side of the city.

We started playing up very steep hill but immediately began to take control of the game. The boys quickly got used to playing on a small pitch and didn’t allow their opponents to settle on the ball and started doing some fantastic passing. This led to a couple of changes that either went wide or were saved. Our luck was to changed as Jack latched on to a great pass and shot past the keeper into the corner of the net.

Shortly afterwards Luckwell gave away a penalty. Fortunately it went wide and Luckwell began to push forward. This led to another goal from George before half time.

Playing downhill Luckwell started to build pressure with some fantastic running from midfield and a solid defence. Jack scored twice more before St Teresas scored a breakaway goal. Jack scored his fourth goal of the game to make it Luckwell 5 St Teresa’s 1 before we conceded 2 more late goals.

The final score was 5-3 to Luckwell. Well played everyone and thank you for all our excellent support.

Man of the match was Jack Carey.
